What a blunder Jeep Australia have made with the genuine Mopar Tubular Nudge Bar for the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Who ever approved the design needs to be hung out to dry!
The Nudge Bar looks fine at first glance, but, have a good look at where it is mounted to the vehicle.
Jeep designers in the US have fitted serious, very heavy duty recovery hooks to the front of the new Grand Cherokee. Australian designers have designed approved and manufactured a great looking Nudge Bar and guess where it gets attached to the vehicle?
It gets fitted directly on to the recovery hooks rendering the vehicle un- recoverable if it needs to be recovered or be used to pull another vehicle from the front. If you tried to use a snatch strap or tow strap you would severely damage the nudge bar or damage the recovery strap. There is nowhere else to safely attach your recovery strap.
So be warned! If you are buying the new Grand Cherokee and intend to go four wheel driving, dont fit the genuine Mopar Nudge Bar or remove it before you go bush, which kinda defeats the purpose of it in the first place doesn't it!
