As frustrating as it already is if you have a New 2012 Rubicon or Diesel Wrangler on order and have been told your car not be arriving for many months, you can now expect a much longer wait than you have been told.
Dealers were notified today 22/2/12 of a production freeze at the Toledo Jeep facility on ALL RUBICON Wranglers due to shortages in components such as the Roc-Trac transfer case and as a consequence, only some sold vehicles will make it through without delays. Dealers have not yet been advised of which customer vehicles will not get built!
As well as this the diesels are not being built because of a shortage in the Turbo Diesel engine supply. So if you have a Rubicon or Wrangler CRD on order make sure you contact your dealer asap to find out if your Wrangler will make it to Australia mid year.
There does not appear to be any mention of this on any of the US forums so it could be effecting export versions only.
We will update you further if our sources hear any more news regarding Wrangler production delays.
