There are numerous reports in 4WD media and Jeep forums that some Grand Cherokee owners are experiencing a failure of the 4WD system when driving in sand. The vehicles computer comes up with a SERV 4WD error and the car only sends power to the rear wheels rendering the car useless stuck on a beach or on a sand dune. The issue is being experienced both in the USA and Australia and is only effecting random vehicles. Owners are being frustrated by a lack of feedback and communication from Jeep Australia.
Check out the issues on the Jeep Garage Forum Jeep Garage or in the latest 4x4 Australia magazine

WRANGLER 2012 AEV/ MOPAR SNORKEL WILL FIT 3.6L
2012 JK Wrangler owners with the 3.6L Pentastar engine who wish to fit a snorkel have been under the misconception that the AEV/Mopar Snorkel will not fit the 2012 Wrangler.
This is incorrect. The current 3.8L AEV snorkel will fit with some minor adjustments to the air cleaner intake. AEV do have an upgraded 3.6L Snorkel in the pipeline (due late September) which has a slightly better airflow so be warned if you are fitting the 3.8L Snorkel it will have some restrictive effect on performance.
The AEV snorkel is sold in Australia as a genuine Mopar accessory and local Jeep dealers have been successfully installing them to the 3.6L Pentastar engine.

Jeep To Import Pentastar 3.6L Overland
Jeep Australia are to import a new addition to the highly successful Grand Cherokee Range. A new petrol V6 Pentastar 3.6L powered Overland is to arrive soon to ease the demand for this top of the line model. Diesel versions are still subject to long delivery times and Jeep are hoping better supply of the petrol V6 Overland will attract buyers who don't really need the diesel.
The Overland is popular because the price is so close to an optioned up Limited it makes more sense to pay the extra few grand to get all the additional goodies.

The Next Jeep Wrangler
Australian Journos were taken over to the USA recently for a Colorado drive program with the current Wrangler and Grand Cherokee. Whilst there the Jeep executives were talking future Jeeps and the Wrangler was top of that list with strong indications of an all new Wrangler due for 2015 model year..
Expect the next Wrangler to be more pedestrian safe with restyled front end and a softer impact zone - does not sound 4WD friendly though with most likely no heavy duty bumpers for mounting winches and the usual off road gear.
New styling and body configurations are also in the pipeline with possible pickup and full steel wagon versions being touted along with petrol and diesel engine upgrades and more modern interiors and overhaul of crash safety compliance are expected to be part of major upgrades to the range.
It's very early days yet so watch out for snippets over the next year.

JEEP AUSTRALIA SLASH CHEROKEE KK PRICING
Jeep Australia have slashed the price of its lack luster Cherokee range in the face of slow sales. The Jeep range has been going great guns this year except for the soon to be replaced KK Cherokee (Liberty in US).
The aging Cherokee has been advertised from $35000K all year for its Sport 2x4 version with many dealers offering them for $32000K Drive Away. Now Jeep have just slashed the price to $30000K Drive Away and the rest of the range has also been dropped. New prices are Limited 2x4 for $33000, Limited 4x4 $35000 and the diesel CRD Limited for just $39000 thats a massive $7000 reduction on the Limited petrol and diesel.
A real bargain for new buyers but too bad if you bought one last month.
This is a very bad look for Jeep and recent buyers will be fuming at being duped out of thousands of dollars and also the drop in resale value of their purchase. Owners of older models will also be unhappy at the drop in resale value of their older Jeep.
It's hard to work out why Jeep Australia have panicked as the replacement for the KK is not due until sometime next year. The new prices are on the Jeep Australia website at www.jeep.com.au
