Body Colour Hardtop Roof Demand Causes Increase In Production On JK Wrangler
Demand in the USA is so strong for Jeep Wranglers with body-color removable hardtops that Chrysler is expanding availability to a second trim level for 2012 model. The Body-Colour Roof option will be available on the top-end Rubicon as well as the Sahara (Renegade Pack in Australia). Body-color fender flares also are part of the deal.
The iconic Jeep enjoyed its best-ever month in July with 14,355 deliveries with over 20% of US buyers opting for the Body-Colour Roof option on the Sahara model. Chrysler now has enough capacity to produce a body-color roof for every 2012 Sahara and Rubicon hardtop it can build after its supplier CTP, has increased capicity to meet the demand.
2012 Hardtop buyers will also benefit from engineering changes and re tooling required to accommodate the body color with CTP making some further improvements to the roof design including larger windows and finger grab handles for easier removal. Fingertip grips were molded into the removable panels above the driver and front-row passenger to assist with carrying.
The new 2012 Wrangler and 4-door Wrangler Unlimited are available in four new colors: Dozer Yellow, Deep Molten Red, Sahara Tan and Crush Orange. These colours will not be arriving here until the new year. Australian versions will also be coming with the Hardtop roof standard and dual top roof as an option. The new 2012 models will also have the Pentastar V6 3.6L engine and will be arriving in Australia at the end of the year.
Unfortunately the Body Colour Roof Option will not be available in Australia yet. Our Renegade Pack models will only have the existing Black roof and fender flairs. So we are running a Poll to see if Aussie buyers want this option.

Chrysler's Head Of Interior Design Visits Australia
Chrysler's Head Of Interior Design Klaus Busse, has just spent a few weeks here in Australia for the 'reveal' of the new 2011 Jeep Compass. He has also been presenting his design philosophy to dealership staff and Chrysler Australia Executives around Australia.
In a series of State by State meetings he discussed how his team completely refreshed the interior of every model in the range, and also gave an amazing insight into what future Jeep interiors will look like, including some sneek peek shots of interior concepts.
Expect to see some exciting colour pallets and vastly different designs and materials in future models including the Jeep KK Cherokee/Liberty replacement which is due next year. Using a mixture of colours from nature including tropical rainforests, volcanic eruptions and the oceans you can expect the unexpected on future Jeep models. Klaus is responsible for the award winning new Grand Cherokee interior and upcoming Chrysler 300C. His team also worked on the Jeep 70th Anniversary interiors which had the colours of WW2 medal bands inserted into the seat backs. Klaus was off to the Australian Outback and Uluru before heading home - obviously for more colour ideas.

Grand Cherokee Overland Summit - Voted Best SUV Interior in USA
He recently stated " We had a great deal of input into the process with suppliers and it makes Chrysler Group very powerful moving forward because we are becoming so involved. In the past, I've worked with companies that would craft a beautiful design and then just "throw it over the wall" to engineering and keep their fingers crossed that they would execute it. What we have right now is a true partnership with engineering where if you come to one of our meetings you wouldn't know who the engineers are and who the designers are. Instead, you'll see real teamwork between the engineering and design groups where we complement each other's ideas and fight for good products. We specify materials together with engineering; we push for fit and finish together. For example, look at the A/C outlets on the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee; those are probably the best in the market. The veins that direct the airflow don't bend when you touch them with your finger whereas the plastic in the previous model was very soft. Those of us in the design office along with our friends in engineering specified the material together and now it's super robust and the fit and finish are significantly improved. We're now expecting top quality, which may have driven some of our suppliers' crazy because we were not happy with what they gave us in the past. They were not used to this demand from us as we wanted the same quality you find in luxury vehicles. It is more about collaborating with suppliers these days to not reject parts, but to work together to gain respect and trust, and come to agreed upon expectations together.Source ChryslerLLC

How Much Faster Is The Pentastar Wrangler?
How much quicker is the Pentastar V6 2012 Wrangler over the old 3.8L V6 2011 model? Watch this video and make your own mind up!
Wrangler 2012 Details Announced For US Market
Chrysler LLC have released official US specifications and details of the upcoming 2012 Jeep JK Wrangler.
The major changes effecting us in Australia are the addition of the Pentastar V6 3.6L and new five-speed automatic transmission – shared with Jeep Grand Cherokee – for refined shifting and greater performance and economy.
Interiors will remain as for 2011 with some specification changes to Australian models such as Hardtop roof as standard and if you want both soft and hardtops you will need to pay more and order as an option, as previously shared on Talking Jeep OZ.
New colours make up the other changes along with additional ground clearance on Rubicon.
We wont be getting the colour coded hardtop roof and flare guard options like the US models but leather seats could be a factory option on some versions.
The 2012 Jeep Wrangler underwent millions of durability testing miles during development in the company’s scientific labs, at its proving grounds and on public roads in various climates.
The Wrangler’s 3.6-liter V-6 Pentastar engine recorded more than 12 million customer-equivalent miles on engine dynamometers prior to production. Testing was increased by 50 percent compared to previous Chrysler Group V-6 engines, to guarantee a long life against severe conditions and accommodate high-load applications such as trailer towing. Reducing noise, vibration and harshness was a key objective for every engine component and was achieved using advanced computer-aided engineering techniques.
As the Wrangler approached production, the company also tested day and night, on- and off-road to put the equivalent of three years of wear and tear on the vehicle in approximately three months time. This accelerated testing occurred on public roads, paved and unpaved, in an attempt to find and fix any issues before the first SUVs were delivered to customers. The test drivers checked all the functional aspects of the vehicle, such as heating and cooling, window operation, convertible and removable hardtop operation and navigation system.
One criticism already noted is the new exhaust pipe that runs under the engine in a vulnerable position as seen in the attached photo. This could be different on Right Hand Drive models.

Jeep Grand Wagoneer 7 Seater - Still A Long Wait!
Dont hold your breath if you expect the 7 Seater Jeep wagon to arrive in Australia soon. Word is that the right hand drive versions will be at least 2013 before seen on Australian shores. The long awaited Commander replacement 7 seat Jeep will be based on the current Dodge Durango and will be called Grand Wagoneer reminiscent of the famous big Jeep wagons of the past.
Running WK Grand Cherokee engineering under the hood and with similar variants to the WK local dealers are eagerly awaiting a 7 seat option for the hugely popular Grand Cherokee.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is currently selling in record numbers world wide and customers are having to wait many months for delivery. The recently introduced Turbo Diesel variants are almost all sold out to year end but the new Pentastar V6 3.6L petrol engine is a little more readily available with US production increased to meet demand. The Pentastar 3.6L engine is a great performer with amazing economy for such a large vehicle. This is the variant that won 4x4 of the Year in Australia and is certainly a good option if you cant wait for a diesel and dont have a need for heavy towing.

Alarm As 4WD Hoons Damage Park Facilities In Victoria
Hoon Behaviour in Local State Forest Areas Causes Rangers and Police To Act!
Victorian Authorities are investigating recent damage to park facilities. Department of Sustainability and Environment (DSE) officers are appalled and alarmed at the recent widespread “Hoon” behaviour observed in State Forest in the Bairnsdale District. DSE Forest Manager, Gail Penfold said State Forest recreation facilities are being targeted for random attacks.
“We simply can’t believe that this is happening to so many of the beautiful recreational sites we manage so people can enjoy and appreciate the region’s natural environment and heritage,” Ms Penfold said.
“Some historic facilities have been damaged beyond repair and have had to be removed to ensure public safety,” Ms Penfold said. The increased frequency of these senseless attacks on the facilities is costing the department time and resources to repair.
“DSE staff will have to assess each site after an incident to see whether the facilities are safe for the public to use and then make repairs accordingly. In some situations, facilities will have to be removed permanently because of repeated vandalism.”
Sites affected include:
Marthavale Hut – damage to the toilet, ‘doughnuts’ around the fire pit and picnic area.
Gippsland Lakes Discovery Trail – a vehicle unsuccessfully attempted to drive onto the mountain bike trail by pushing over a metal bollard.
Stony Creek Trestle Bridge – a vehicle drove up the steps to the viewing platform, picnic table was stolen from the site.
Turntable Huts – a historic forest hut was winched off its foundations.
Seldom Seen Hut – graffiti and vandalism on the historic hut.
Store Creek Bridge near Deptford – graffiti on the bridge, road signs and the road and also on earthmoving machinery.
DSE officers are working with Victoria Police to try and control this anti-social, destructive behaviour. Senior Constable Paul Newton said anyone caught driving in a dangerous and Hoon-like manner in forest areas will run the risk of having their vehicle impounded under the new legislation. “We will be stepping up our patrols with DSE and Parks Victoria officers in local State Forest areas to crack down on this sort of behaviour,” he said. Members of the public can assist by providing information to DSE staff or to the local police. All reports will be treated in confidence.

Wrangler Production Set For Possible Expansion At Toledo
The planned Jeep factory expansion in Toledo could be expanded even further to accommodate more wrangler production, Plans for the expansion of the Liberty/Cherokee plant have been announced but there is strong indications that Chrysler will enlarge production facilities at the Wrangler plant to allow for production of more volume of the popular Wrangler model. Speculation is rife in Toledo that this could mean production of the highly expected Wrangler Pickup or expanded diesel volume for the US market.
Chrysler Group LLC's plans to invest $365 million in expanding and improving its Toledo Assembly complex and creating 1,100 jobs, This is great news for the Toledo community and is a real boost to yhe City.
The Wrangler had its highest monthly sales in the United States in July at 14,335 units, and both its domestic and overseas sales continue to grow, stretching the Wrangler plant's capacity and causing concern at Chrysler that the popular vehicle might be in short supply.
Further expansion at Toledo Assembly will allow Chrysler to raise production of the Wrangler, a highly popular -- and highly profitable -- vehicle that the automaker and its Italian owner, Fiat SpA, will use to market the Jeep brand worldwide.

Australian Jeep Dealers To Attend Launch Of New Jeep Compass
Australian Jeep Dealers will attend the "Reveal" of the new Jeep Compass which is about to arrive in Oz. They will also be presented with an insight into future Chrysler Jeep & Dodge models destined for Australia in coming years.
Also attending the event will be Mr. Klaus Busse - Head Of Interior Design For Chrysler LLC. He is the man responsible for the new look and feel in the 2011 models. He is known as hating the colour Grey and has implemented a vigorous re-think of the way Chrysler do interiors using mostly Black in the new models. This new look and softer feel has been seen in the recent award winning 2011 Grand Cherokee and the new Wrangler upgrade. All new Chrysler Jeep and Dodge product have seen interior revamps and is one of the many reasons for recent sales success in Australia.
The dealers will be attending the event next week in Melbourne and will finally see the new Jeep Compass in the flesh. We have seen the new model in recent months all over the internet and it looks like a baby Grand Cherokee with its new styling. It is selling in huge numbers in the US compared to the previous Compass which has not been sold in Australia for over 2 years.
The new Compass will be sold in both 2WD and All Wheel Drive versions and will be a new contender in the hot small SUV market. pricing and final details are not yet known but our sources inform us that a very competitive price is expected.

Chrysler To Invest $365 million In Jeep's Toledo Plant
Chrysler Group LLC plans to invest at least $365 million to expand and improve its Toledo Assembly Complex, adding a second shift with more than 1,100 jobs to the plant that currently builds the Jeep Liberty and Dodge Nitro SUVs.
Analysts believe the investment could be the first of a number of expansions — and additional jobs — at the site in future years as the automaker ramps up production to meet global demand for up to seven different current and future vehicles, including the iconic Jeep Wrangler. While Chrysler’s current plans only list a second shift, a third shift at the Toledo North Plant could come if additional demand develops for new products, but that could be several years away.
The complex’s two assembly plants, the Toledo North Plant that builds the Jeep Liberty and Dodge Nitro, and the Wrangler plant, which makes Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited, now have one and two shifts, respectively. The plans revealed Thursday would restore a second shift at Toledo North plant for the first time since 2008.
Many of the products that will roll off local assembly lines will be shipped overseas as Chrysler and its Italian partner, Fiat SpA, leverage their worldwide dealer network to boost sales of Jeep — their most popular single brand, and the one most closely associated with the city of Toledo for the last 70 years.
New jobs likely will come to the complex in waves. First will be construction jobs as the automaker expands Toledo North’s body shop, adds an improved welding facility, and upgrades its existing body, trim, paint, and materials handling operations by adding equipment to improve productivity. The application with the city does not mention additional work at the complex’s Wrangler plant, which is struggling to meet demand for the iconic vehicle that had its highest-ever sales month in July.
Chrysler officials, including Jeep brand President Michael Manley and Mr. Marchionne, have expressed concern Wrangler demand could surpass the plant’s production capacity of about 155,000 vehicles per year, meaning further expansion could be forthcoming. Analysts associated with the Chrysler-centric Web site Allpar.com believe six or more vehicles soon will roll from the Toledo Assembly complex: two-door and four-door Wrangler models, a new Jeep Liberty, a Chrysler-badged crossover and a Lancia-badged version of the same vehicle for export, and a new Alfa Romeo SUV.
The automaker also has discussed producing a small Jeep-branded pickup, based on the Wrangler, that could be made in Toledo if the Wrangler plant is expanded. The information comes from long-term product plans released by both Chrysler and Fiat during the last several years.

Jeep Owners Demand Diesel Wrangler For USA Market - Petition
Our friends at JPFreak Magazine found this.....
"It's time to make it clear to the decision makers at Jeep - we want Diesel powered Jeeps in the North American market and we want them now. Tell your friends, family and the crew at your local Jeep club. Let's make this happen. Take two minutes to sign the petition below and make your voice herd!"

Press Release
Diesel engines are the last piece of the puzzle that would catapult the Jeep brand to the forefront of expedition vehicles, says Dan. Better mileage, longer engine life and enormous low-end torque are just a few of the real-world benefits that combine for amazing rock-crawling and all-important highway drivability. It's no secret that Jeep assembles diesel-powered Wranglers and Grand Cherokees in the 'states - but these vehicles are destined for sale on the foreign market only. Until now, the decision makers at Jeep have been uncertain of the demand for diesel in the domestic market.
Jeep enthusiast takes matters into own hands - JeepDieselPetition.com
"We need to show the decision makers at Jeep how serious we are about diesel power plants in the North American lineup." said self-confessed Jeep enthusiast Dan Grec after driving 40,000 miles from Alaska to Argentina in a Jeep Wrangler. Completing the epic journey in a completely stock Wrangler without a single mechanical failure speaks to the reliability and longevity of the iconic Wrangler platform.
With this petition, Jeepers across North America can clearly demonstrate their demand for diesel engines.

Future Jeep Models Revealed
Future Jeep Models Share Fiat and Jeep Platforms
Details of future Jeep models are surfacing in the USA and reveal an interesting insight into what we can expect in the next few years.
Jeep Compass & Patriot:
The Compass got a face-lift in 2011 and is due to arrive in Australia in the coming weeks. It now resembles a smaller version of the flagship Grand Cherokee. The Chrysler five-year plan calls for replacing the Compass and Patriot with a compact based on Fiat's compact CUSW platform in 2013, likely as a 2014 model. The vehicle will be built for global markets, including Australia, at Fiat's Mirafiori plant in Turin, Italy. The replacement vehicle will share many components and systems with the Alfa Romeo C-SUV that will be built in Mirafiori by the end of 2012. The vehicle will be offered with all-wheel and front-wheel drive. Chrysler's product plan calls just one vehicle to replace the Compass and Patriot siblings in 2013. Based on the investment the company made in the Compass, look for the Patriot to disappear after the Compass switches to Fiat's compact CUSW platform in 2013.
Jeep Grand Wagoneer
The Jeep Flagship model will be the Grand Wagoneer 7 Seat that will share the Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango platform, think Jeep Commander with a much greater level of luxury, capability and flexibility. In January, CEO Sergio Marchionne said a seven-seat Grand Wagoneer would be coming in 2013 most likely as a 2014 model.
Jeep Liberty/Cherokee
This is the most significant model due for a much needed upgrade. It seems that the KK replacement will be a softer All Wheel Drive vehicle based on a version of Fiat's compact CUSW platform called CUSW Plus.. The KK replacement is scheduled to be launched in 2013, likely as a 2014 model, . The model will not have low range capability and will be AWD only, though the platform could accommodate a front-drive only version. Expect to see a lot of Fiat technology and a much less capable 4WD vehicle than the current model.
Jeep Compact B-Jeep
Jeep Brand CEO Michael Manley confirmed the so called B-Jeep would debut in late 2013 or early 2014, likely as a 2014 model. The smallest Jeep will be designed for the North American and Latin American markets and made in Toluca, Mexico, where Chrysler now builds the Fiat 500 and Dodge Journey. it may not appear in other markets.
Jeep Grand Cherokee:
Remains basically unchanged over the next three years. Six cylinder versions of the Grand Cherokee will eventually get Chrysler's eight-speed automatic transmission.
Jeep Wrangler;
The iconic Wrangler will also remain fundamentally unchanged with only minor changes and upgrades and will be the mainstay of Jeeps 4WD capability remaining true to its off-road heritage

Australia's Wild Horses - The Brumby - Under Mass Slaughter Threat Again
Often seen in the wilds of the Australian Alps and in The Outback, Australia has many thousands of wild brumby horses. Slaughtered from air and ground and left to die; tiny foals perish of starvation without their dams.
This is the shameful attitude of the Australian Government; it is barbaric and cruel and the carnage continues.
The small percentage of horses that are trapped ‘humanely’ are loaded onto trucks and transported to abattoirs. The terror of these wild horses as they face eventual death is horrific. Check out The Save the Brumbies website here
